Barbeque is one of my favorite things to eat and prepare. I;m talking about real slow smoked meats with a hickory fire. There is just something about preparing a brisket or pork butt the night before and getting up early in the morning to start a fire on the pit and letting the smoker do its magic for the next 12 hours. The meat is moist and tender when done right and really speaks for itself. I will get into smoking techniques and recipes in later posts, but for now I would like to share with you my BBQ Sauce recipe. I have never shared this even with family members before. I guarantee this sauce will spoil you and you will never buy from the store again. And this would also be great to add to my BBQ bean recipe that I shared earlier.
Ingredients
2 Cups Water
3/4 Cup Light Corn Syrup
1/2 Cup Tomato Paste
1/2 Cup White Vinegar
3 tsp Molasses
3 tsp Brown Sugar
1 tsp Liquid Smoke( in future posts I will teach you how to make your own)
1/2 tsp Salt(kosher)
1/4 tsp Onion Powder
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
1/8 Tbsp paprika
1/8 Tbsp Garlic Powder
In a heavy sauce pot combine all the liquid ingredients and heat to a light simmer stirring until well combined. Add the dry ingredients and stir to combine. simmer uncovered for about an hour stirring occasionally remove from heat and let cool. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate over night. This sauce goes well with beef, pork and chicken. It is also killer on hamburgers. My family has always told me I need to bottle this stuff and sell it. Now I share it with my readers in hopes I can get some feedback. Who knows you may see it on the market someday.
Cook from the heart, taste the love
